Ed was one of five Inductees into the PCTC Hall of Fame to be
honored in front of a
sold-out crowd. Ed was third on the docket and
Emcee Don Gamble told the audience that Ed was first involved in
racing at age six at the Old Latrobe Speedway when he would run
the re-start line-ups from his Mother in the scoring tower to
Jack Freeman in the flagstand. Over the years , Ed won
five track championships at four different tracks and is the
leading Sprint feature winner at Lernerville, Challenger, Sharon
and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
He was voted to the top 25 in the North American Sprint Car Poll
. Other recognition included SPRINT-TV’s Decade’s Dazzling
Dozen, One of Sprint Car and Midget Magazine’s Drivers of
the Decade. The World of Outlaws included the #2L in
their Xbox 360 game sold nationally. R&R Enterprises
produced a replica of Ed’s #2L in two sizes l:24 and 1:16 which
were shipped to vendors across the United States and Australia.
Ed revealed that his most memorable race was winning the World
of Outlaw Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup race on July 23, 2002
and since Don Gamble was the announcer that night , they shared
some inside stories of that memorable win with the crowd.
Other Inductees that night included Dow Carnahan, Charlie Cragan,
Bobby Marhefka and Ron Piovesan.
